Today, Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf will appear before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for his official nomination hearing, after running the agency for almost a year without Senate confirmation. Lorella Praeli, president of Community Change Action, said the following in response:
“Under Chad Wolf’s watch, DHS has exploited the pandemic to expel almost 150,000 asylum seekers, children, and other migrants at the border and deployed its agents into American cities to intimidate and arrest people exercising their First Amendment rights to protest police violence. He is currently serving unlawfully and has openly defied the Supreme Court’s ruling requiring the reinstatement of DACA. Wolf was a key architect of Trump’s family separation policy.
Like Trump, Chad Wolf is a threat to our people and our democracy. We not only oppose his nomination; we call on Chad Wolf to resign.”
