White Supremacy is a Threat to Black and Brown Bodies
Lorella Praeli, president of Community Change Action and Dorian Warren, vice president of Community Change Action, issued the following statement on the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin:
“Jacob Blake was shot at least seven times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin in front of his children. Another Black man shot. Another example of racist state violence. Another reminder of this tragic fact of life for Black Americans. This pain is all too real for our families who are the victims of the white supremacy that govern law enforcement and are backed by President Trump. How many times do we have to say ‘Enough!’
Our lives are on the ballot this November. To radically shift the direction of the country, and build a nation where we are safe and free from police violence, we must vote and encourage our friends and family to vote at a rate that sends a clear message to those in power that our lives matter. We must protest and organize, and elect leaders at all levels of government committed to ending white supremacy. We must also demand a shift in resources from the police to help build a caring economy that ensures our families are both physically and economically safe, with access to housing, health care and a living wage.”
