Community Change/Action Reacts to Temporary Protected Status Redesignation for Venezuelan Nationals
Lorella Praeli, Co-President of Community Change/Action, issued the following statement on the Biden administration’s decision to protect Venezuelan nationals in the U.S. with a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) redesignation:
“We applaud the Biden administration’s decision to expand TPS for Venezuelan nationals who made their way to the U.S. seeking a better future. Roughly 472,000 Venezuelans stand to benefit from TPS and gain the ability to work, secure housing, and support their families.
Today’s announcement is a clear testament to the power of organizers across the country who fought for this win and made the case for how we all benefit when people are given the opportunity to become full members of society.
We welcome this news, and will continue to work with communities across the country and the Biden administration to extend the same relief to the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who deserve the same opportunity. We urge the Biden administration to grant TPS to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Cameroon, and Mauritania.”
