Washington, D.C. — On Wednesday, June 16 at 11:00 am ET, Community Change Action and Economic Security Project Action are co-sponsoring a virtual panel to discuss how a permanent and inclusive expanded Child Tax Credit could help the future of our families and the economy. Capital & Main, a news organization investigating power and politics, will moderate the panel.

The event Lean On Me: How the Child Tax Credit Can Empower American Fathers will feature U.S. Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (NY), Community Change Action Co-President Dorian Warren, a Black immigrant father from the Worker Center for Racial Justice, Deputy Director of Maine People’s Alliance Ben Chin, and Colorado restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin, whose petition on Change.org for permanent direct cash payments garnered 2.25 million signatures.

The recent expansion of the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lift millions of American families out of poverty and give a boost to our economy. Now is the time to go bigger and bolder on direct cash support and make a permanent investment in all of our families.
