Senators Must Vote NO on Budget Resolution

Senators Must Vote NO on Budget Resolution

Senate Republican leaders have released the text of a revised budget resolution (H. Con. Res. 14) to start the process of passing a massive reconciliation package, including tax giveaways for billionaires paid with cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and more.

Community Change Action Co-President Lorella Praeli said the following in response:

“In every city and state, people rely on lifeline programs like Medicaid and SNAP to survive. Cutting these programs isn’t just a budget choice–it’s a deliberate act of cruelty that will push families deeper into poverty while handing billionaires a windfall. At the same time, this budget supercharges an already brutal deportation machine, tearing families apart and undermining our democracy. This isn’t fiscal responsibility—it’s a redistribution of resources from the vulnerable to the powerful. Senators must reject it.”

Community Change Action Co-President Dorian Warren said the following in response:

“Once again, Senate Republicans are pushing cruel, reckless cuts to Medicaid and SNAP that’ll hurt poor people, the elderly, kids and people with disabilities. They’ve entered their ‘new math era’ where over $5 trillion in tax breaks for billionaires cost nothing and the lives of tens of millions of people are worth nothing. If they had an ounce of decency, they’d vote no on this budget blueprint that leaves our communities in jeopardy.”
