Movement Forward Continues Despite Parliamentarian Ruling

On Sunday evening, the Senate Parliamentarian ruled against including a pathway to citizenship in the reconciliation bill. Lorella Praeli, Co-President of Community Change Action, issued the following statement:

“Congress has a moral obligation – and a political imperative – to deliver permanent protections for undocumented people this year. The parliamentarian’s ruling today is not what we were hoping for, but it’s a part of the process, and we still expect Democrats to do everything in their power to fulfill their promise to our communities. The stakes are too high – for undocumented youth, for TPS holders, for essential workers, for farmworkers, for our entire country – to leave this fight empty-handed. We are disappointed but not deterred, and we still believe that we will win this year.”
